About College

This college was merely an idea in late 2007 but by the summer of 2008, we signed a memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Gujarat and Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (GCMMF) to open a new age institution in public-private partnership. The idea was to combine the expertise of academic and industry and create practical-oriented courses that stimulate students and make their undergraduate experience memorable and a stepping stone for successful careers. The college offers a B. Tech. degree in ‘Dairy and Food Technology’ (with an intake capacity of 40 students per year) and a three year B. Sc. Degree in ‘Food Quality Assurance’ (with an intake capacity of 15 students per year that began in 2009). In the initial years, we faced numerous challenges ranging from a faculty crunch to issues with the makeshift premises we were operating on. It was a long and arduous task to build an institute from scratch. But we went forward unshaken striving for nothing but the very best. Within a year, we procured a ` 2.0 crore Mini Dairy Plant not only is the students first learning curve but caters to the needs of entireUniversity. In the meantime, our architects (HCPDPM Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad) worked on a state-of-theartfacility design for our dream building, Phase-I of construction completed. We are very proud of thePhase-I buildings constructed by NDDB via seed funding provided by GCMMF Ltd. Government ofGujarat has sanctioned `18 crore for the construction of remaining phases of college building. Our biggest resources and strengths, however, are our students. The batch boasts of near 100%placements with fellowships etc., we continue to expand our student intake capacity as our potential todeliver improves. We anticipate quality students getting in as admissions get more competitive and theUniversity would gain exceptional talent. The area of Dairy and Food is replete with opportunities. With the world facing reverse challenges likeclimatic change and food security, it is we who would be called upon to satisfy the food/dairy needs of thegrowing population, anticipated to reach a billion by 2050. We would not only need to be technologicallyinnovative in producing more but also adhere to strict quality standards and render nutritional food atacceptable costs to our current and future consumers.
