Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimarao Ramiji Ambedkar was an intellectual giant among the architects of modern India. His life and mission are a stimulating role model to many a younger generation of Independent India. His socio-economic thoughts for modern India and his struggle for an effectives social inclusive policy lent dignity to the socially deprived sections of the Indian Society. His emphasis on emancipation of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe communities through reservation is ever relevant to creating modern Indian society. His convictions and courage are a source of inspiration to all deprived classes and castes of India. Dr. Ambedkar was messiah figure and the principal architect of the Indian Constitution. He was a strong advocate of public institutions as the foundations of a democratic social order that can contribute to the creation and strengthening of civil society. Among the public institutions, the university has a major role not only as the centre of learning but also as setting for a new kind of social existence. Educating young minds and inculcating the spirit of social justice and equality of opportunity through the teaching of Ambedkar’s writings is a national policy. The University’s Department of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Studies has been disseminating the socio-economic and political ideologies of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and his Life and Times.
