Soil mechanics and foundation engineering are part of civil and structural engineering studies. They are also included in the study of geotechnical engineering or rock mechanics. Soil mechanics mainly explains us the behaviour of soils and the associated problems while considering them for construction activities. It also explains the remedial measures and innovative solutions that can be taken up to aid safe and reliable construction. Foundation engineering on the other hand is the application of soil mechanics and rock mechanics while designing foundations for architectural structures. Foundations form the important element of every building and architectural structure. The safe standing of the building or the structure is very much dependent upon the design and construction of the foundation.

Admissions for such course are on the basis of Grade and equivalent marks obtained in 12thclass or senior secondary school and equivalent to that.
