Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry, Mehtapura, Himmatnagar was established under Kamdhenu University on 1st August, 2011. This premier institute is the First Polytechnic of its own kind in Gujarat and was established with the aim to prepare livestock inspectors to provide the support to the field veterinarians as well as to provide primary veterinary services to the animal owners in remote villages. Later the other Agricultural Universities of Gujarat also started the Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry on the lines of Kamdhenu University. The institute offers a full time residential education programme of “Diploma in Animal Husbandry” for which the basic qualification for the admission is 10th standard. The institute presently provides a well managed hostel facility for boys only along with a student bus facility for transport. The duration of the course is three years which includes a six month intensive farm practice training at different premier institutes in Gujarat.
