About College

Considering the need and importance of education for the development of society and nation, the visionaries of valsad decided to start educational institutions to impart education in different faculties of learning. For this purpose, they founded Shree Nootan Kelavani Mandal in May 1956. It is our affluence and privilege that the founder President of Shree Nootan Kelavani Mandal is Late Shree Morarji Desai the beloved son of Valsad,great freedom fighter, an ardent Gandhian, a person with moral principles in words and deeds, the former Prime Minister of India, the first Indian to receive highest civilian order of India-Bharat Ratna and Pakistan-Nishaan-e-Pakistan. Late Shree Morarji Desai and Late Dr. Moghabhai Desai, an eminent medical practitioner and social worker, rendered their selfless services as the President and Secretary respectively to the Mandal till their demise. Even today we can witness and sense an everlasting impact of their personality on the educational scenario of Shree Nootan Kelavani Mandal. In fond memory of both these devout souls the campus is named as Shree Morarji Nagar and the educational complex is named as Dr.Moghabhai Vidhya Sankul. Due to earnest efforts and sincere contribution of visionaries like Late Shri Ballubhai Majmudar(Atul Ltd., Atul), Late Sheth Shri Siddharthbhai Lalbhai (Atul Ltd., Atul),Late Shree sakarlal Kapadia(Advocate), Late Shree Sumantrai Desai(Advocate), Late Shree Kavasji Pardiwala(Advocate), Late Shree Chandrakant K Shah(Businessman) and many other noble persons, the Mandal has gained recognition as one of the leading managements in the field of higher education in Gujarat. In 1957, the Mandal started the first college namely N.K.M Science and Arts college, with only 247 students.Then after, in 1964 N.K.M Science college was sepreated and renamed as Ballubhai Krushnalal Majmudar Science College with the huge donation from Shree Ballubhai Krushnalal Majmudar, the former Chairman of Atul Pvt.Ltd. The second college namely Arts and commerce college was started from 1964-65.Up to 1972-73, this college existed as the bi faculty college.From 1973-74, the single faculty commerce college was named Shah Narottamdas Harjivandas Commerce college with the huge donation received by the management in memory of Shah Narottamdas Harjivandas. Similarly the single faculty Arts college was named Smt. Jarbanu Phirojsha Shroff Arts college with the donation received in memory of Smt. Jarbanu Phirojsha Shroff.In June 1968, Shah Khimchandbhai Muljibhai Law college was established with the donation received in memory of Shah Khimchandbhai Muljibhai.All these four colleges are Grant-in-Aid colleges approved by Government of Gujarat and recognized U/S2(f) and 12(B) of U.G.C Act. The Mandal is always eager to launch novel courses as per the national and international professional requirements. Accordingly, B.Sc.(Micro Biology), B.C.A. and P.G.D.M.L.T. courses were started in 1999 to 2000 and these courses were associated with B.K.M. Science College till 2005-06.These courses were relocated in 2006-07 in the newly formed institute named as Dolat-Usha Institute of Applied Sciences in appreciation of huge donation by Shree Dolatbhai R Desai.In 2008, Dr.Saurabh D Desai generously to start”Dhiru-Sarla B.B.A Centre and in 2008-09 the institute was renamed as Dolat-Usha Institute of Applied Sciences and Dhiru-Sarla Institute of Management and Commerce. In 2011-12, N.K.M. School of Nursing was started to cater the needs of rural and adivasi students to become eligible for the job in the field of Nursing in and around Valsad. The necessary permissions for G.N.M-General Nursing and Midwifery-were obtained from Indian Nursing Council, Gujarat Nursing Council and Gujarat Government.
