Govt.Degree College, Samba affiliated to University of Jammu was established in the year 2005, by the Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir.In the beginning only the subject in Arts stream were offered. It was in 2010 that in respond to students demand,Science and Commerce stream were also started in addition to Arts stream. At present there are 19 subjects taught in college.GDC Samba hosts a variety of Cultural Events and Activities designed to help students meet other people and connect with the University Community. College has got a NSS unit comprising of one co-ordinator and 100 volunteers. They participate actively in various activities like Blood Donation Camps, Health Awareness Programs, Special Camps, Adventure Camp, NSS Day, Cleanliness and Environment related activities, so that their personalities are ground in such a way so that they become the active citizens of tomorrow foe development of society.A unit of Indian Red Cross is working in the college with an objective to serve the humanity in general and the nation in particular during natural calamities or disaster. In addition to social service, blood donation camps are also organized.
