University of Delhi School of Open Learning (SOL), Delhi is also popular as Delhi University Correspondence Courses or Delhi University Campus of Open Learning. It was formerly known as the University of Delhi School of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education. This unit of the University was established in 1962. School of Open Learning offers various under graduate and post graduate programs in arts and commerce discipline; both, Hons. and General / Pass courses are offered. The syllabus for each paper is divided into suitable number of lessons. Lessons are prepared by experienced teachers and cover the entire course prescribed by the University of Delhi. They are sent to the students at regular intervals (provided fee is paid on due dates as mentioned in the Prospectus). After a student has studied the lessons and the recommended readings, he/she is expected to prepare answers to the attached Response Sheets and send them to the School for correction and suggestions. Corrected Response Sheets are returned to the students with the teacher's comments and suggestions. Through this process a student receives instruction in organizing his ideas clearly and correctly. Personal Contact Programs are also organized for the benefit of the students, at different centres and through talks broadcast by the All-India Radio, Delhi. Personal Contact Program includes regular classroom lectures and discussions at various places for a specified period ranging from 25 to 30 days in a year.
