About College

It was established in 1990 and was recognized by University Grants Commission under 2f & 12B Scheme in Aug 1998. The college is situated at Jamalpur, in an area of 3062 Sq.Yard. The area where the college is located can be considered as prime residential area vastly inhabited by people belonging to middle-class, lower middle class and even poor people. The students who enroll in this college also belong to the middle-class & lower strata of Muslim society. Being the first Muslim women’s college in Gujarat, the basic intention of our institution has always been to adhere to the needs of the minority Muslim girls and enhance them by providing quality education. The students enrolling in our college belong to socially, economically and educationally backward classes. They come from orthodox and conservative families where female education is not considered essential for their overall development. They are marginalized at home and society for being a female without realizations of the fact that the female contributes to the progress of two families –the one she is born into and the one into which she is married. Our institution aims in creating an awareness regarding female education, as it is said “An educated Mother is equivalent to 100 teachers.” A few senior Lecturers of our college are the members of the B.O.S. (Board of Studies). The Syllabus and curriculum for the under graduate and post graduate students of the college are framed by Board of Studies formed by the University, so we do not hold any authority in revising or introducing any topic outside the syllabus set by the University. Yet, we make it a point to assure that the teachers remain well aware of the latest trends of their respective subjects and help the students learn their topics in further depth. Many of our students after graduation join B.Ed. and have become teachers at secondary & higher secondary level. Many students also take up job in Call–Centers, hospitals as receptionists and attenders & Nurses. For the evaluation of students we conduct unit-test, class-test, and first terminal and second terminal examination. The overall evaluation of the student’s performance is based on their performance in the examination. Our teachers are involved in the process of examination and evaluation not only at our college but also at University level as observers, paper-setter, examiners, moderators etc. Students are encouraged to participate in exhibitions, classroom seminars, competition, N.C.C. camps, sports activities etc. They are also given Karate lessons for self defense by Mahajan Shakti Dhal. We also conduct add-on courses like Beautification, Fabric painting, and Jewelry Making apart from academic courses to enable them to become independent and earn a living. All these are confidence building measures employed to build the confidence of the students who come from a much protected environment. The girls of our institute belong to such gender species (female) that they have to face many social and economic problems. They require personal attention and counseling. We have a committee constituting of 2 faculty members especially to listen and solve the problems of such students. Inspite of having many limitations and belonging to a marginalized group, our students have many a time stood first in the University for academic, extra curricular and sport activities and won Gold Medals. The faculty participates in orientation and refresher courses. They are also encouraged to attend and organize seminars, present papers etc. College promotes the research and development work of the faculty. Presently one of our lecturer Dr. Pinky Pandya of Gujarati department has received the approval for her minor research project from UGC. All our needs and requirements as regards to the infrastructure is met by the management. We have a well-equipped library, a computers center with 20 computers and a Language Laboratory. The use of computers and internet by teachers and students are encouraged by allowing them to utilize the facility free of cost. Teachers make education accessible and interactive. The general facilities available in the campus include a canteen, parking space, ladies room, water room, audio-visual room. The College lobby is utilized for the Morning Prayer, arranging programmes and activities. Facilities for different sports activities are also available. Students are encouraged to take up indoor/outdoor games. There are provisions for Table-Tennis, Volley Ball, and Rifle shooting etc. The student’s supports services include welfare schemes like students counseling centre, Book bank, Fee concession for needy and economically backward students, scholarships, college calendar and Magazine, Old students Association etc. The counseling cell provides need based counseling to the students. The provision of Suggestion-Box enables the students to put forth their suggestions. A students union has also been setup which represents the suggestions and problems of the students. The students who pass out from the college are given guidance for further studies and sometimes are even allowed access to books of the college library. The extension activities encouraged by the college are C.W.D.C., Red Ribbon Club, and Reading Club. The activities of this organization include awareness programs, blood donation and health camps, relief work etc.
