Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan's Sheth R.A College of Arts And Commerce (Affiliated to Gujarat University) NAAC Accredited 'B' Grade College with "Potential for Excellence" by UGC About the College Established in 1965, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Sheth R. A. College of Arts and Commerce has celebrating its Golden Jubilee year in 2015. Its 54th year of existence of the college. Situated on the bank of Sabarmati river right at the heart of the heritage city of Ahmedabad, the college has initiated several innovative practices in past few years. The management of the college comprises of philanthropic Industrialists and professionals under the Chairmanship of Shri Rohit C. Mehta with Shri Mukesh S. Patel as Honorary Secretary. Each member of Managing Board infuses positive environment in the college through their personal and social contributions. The journey of the college has seen many iconic moments. It was selected as Model College by Gujarat Higher Education department to run inter-disciplinary courses under CBCS. The College has earned laurels in academic and co-curricular pursuits at national and international levels. It is being constantly holding place as one of the Best Colleges in India by leading periodicals surveys conducted by India Today and the Week. It scored a grade of (B+) 2.66 by NAAC in 2014 as per new Accreditation Policy. It also has ISO 9001:2015. It has been awarded by UGC the highest prestigious status of College with Potential for Excellence (CPE). The College has 2300 students on roll. A number of research scholars are engaged for M.Phil and Ph.D. under different faculties. The staff and the students of the college have brought unparallel credits to the college. It's the only college in Gujarat to host Fulbright Scholar at College. It's been preferred by Foreign Students for Arts Courses and hosts about 25-27 students each year from different countries. The Principal of the college received Atal Bihari Vajpayee National Award for contribution in Diaspora studies in 2017 and Shiksha Bharati Puraskar from the Young Achievers of India, New Delhi in 2011. She is also the member of Executive council of Gujarat University and Nominee appointed by Honourable Governor at Baba Saheb Ambedkar Open University, Gujarat. Her responsibilities at Gujarat University and State Higher Education Department, work as member of expert committee at UGC, ICSSR, ICPR, ICHR and different Public Service Commissions, Central Universities and State and other Universities help in bringing multi dimensional environment at the College in its various functions. The College both in its curriculum, and in its support services, encourages students' self-development and acumen to become successful in all areas of life. Integrity and personal ethics are important to us. Our research pursuits lead the educational environment to appreciate the responsibilities as educationalists and to respect other cultures and human differences with dignity. Every year the college organizes National and International Academic events. It publishes ISSN numbered International Journal on Indian Knowledge systems: Bharatiya Manyaprad, which hosts International Editorial Board. The college conducts regularly a number of International and national conferences and workshops which are attended by several scholars from various Institutions of the world. It's the first wi-fi campus in grant-in-Aid colleges in Gujarat which is equipped with Interactive Smart Classrooms, E-Lectures, In-house Lecture recording studio, SMS informative software system, dynamic website, Virtual functions of all administrative activities, International MOUs with 3 International Universities from Canada and Indonesia for students exchange and conferences. The college was invited by Canadian Government for University visits. The college caters U.G. and P.G. courses to foreign students from all over the world. The college is nodal agency for admitting foreign students to all courses in Gujarat University. The college also holds M.Phil and Ph.D. Courses for Indian Diaspora studies. It also runs special courses for Gujarat University in French and Persian. It has high end facilitated 400 seater auditorium and 150 seater seminar hall well equipped with 4th generation devices. The college excels in sports and NCC at National and International level competitions. It's students have performed at Commonwealth games, Asian games, World championships to bag Gold medals. At national level also students are making places. The college has created a niche in Disaster Management and has contributed in Gujarat Earthquake, Kashmir Floods and Uttrakhand Disaster through its relief and rehabilitation activities. College plays a sensitive role in shaping the future of its students. This results in placement oriented services. The college in collaboration with IIT Gandhinagar sends students for internship as project fellows. Many other companies like ICICI prudential, TCS and SAP also appoint college students regularly.
