College at glance College at glance INDIRA GANDHI MAHILA (DEGREE) MAHAVIDYALAYA UDALA is one of the leading institutions in the district of Mayurbhanj Odisha. Established in the year 1990 by a group of socially oriented persons in the tribal dominated backward area of Kaptipada sub-division in the district of Mayurbhanj, the college had a humble beginning in a modest structure. Since then the institution has been making a ceaseless effort to emancipate, enlighten and empower women. The institution holds the status of the only women’s college of the Sub-division. Through 24 years of its existence the institution has exerted a lot of effort to expand landscape of learning. The college offers programmes at under graduate level in the areas of humanities with honours in History, Political Science and Sanskrit. Undergraduate students can also enroll in BA (Pass) courses like Education, Home Science, History, Political Science and Odiya. As the college is included in the sanction of 2 (f) and 12 (b) of UGC Act of 1956 the college has received assistance from UGC in the shape of adhoc grant and development grant for the up gradation of college library and construction of Women’s Hostel. The college lays emphasis not only on academic excellence but also on shaping the diverse talents of the students of the area where women education does not get due promotion. The Vision of the College is to educate, enable and empower young women to ensure justice and equity in society. The Mission is to orient its students to service of the community, in the quest for a better life. The college is relentlessly working towards scaling new heights in the realm of education by realizing its aims and aspirations. The students are encouraged not only towards excellence in Academics, but are also provided with a platform to realize, foster and display their inborn talents through co & extra-curricular activities. The institution is proud of its extremely committed faculty. The teachers spend considerable time with their students, catering to their academic needs and honing their skills.
