Krishnarajanagar (KR Nagar) has been planned and constructed in 1934 to relocate the submerged village ‘Edathore’ due to the construction of Krishnarajasagara Dam (KRS). The place is honored being planned by legendary ‘Sir M Vishweshwariah’ under the instruction of his highness Shri. Nalvadi Krishna Raja wodeyer. It is the commercial and educational center for many villages. The college was established as ‘Municipal College’ in housing boards in03-08-1971, by the constant efforts of M.Basavaraju (MLA) and K S Gowdiah. The college obtained affiliation from University of Mysore. Under the leadership of founder Principal J.R.Nanjundegowda BA, BSc and B.Com courses started and 80 students enrolled. 5.16 acres of land was granted by Municipality under the president ship of K.S.Sannaningegowda. Construction work of building was initiated by then Chief Minister. D.Devraja Urs. By 1980 the student strength of the college crossed 500. Principal P.Mallegowda’s effort resulted in the construction of three new classrooms and main gate in 1983 by the donation of Shri.Veerendra Heggade, Dharmasthala. At the same time college got recognition from University Grants Commission (UGC).
