Established in 1996-97, Government First Grade College, Kuvempunagar , Mysore holds the distinction of being the first government co-educational college in the Heritage City of Mysore. The college is on the threshold of completing two decades of its fruitful existence. After a decade of its establishment, the college was duly recognized under sections 2(f) and 12 (B) of the UGC Act 1956. This immensely helped the college in faster development. The college had a very humble beginning with a handful of students. About the infrastructure the college possessed in the early years, the less said the better. The college had no building of its own and functioned on the first floor of a police station. But surely and steadily the college moved in the right direction under the guidance from the Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Karnataka and also under the able administration of various Principals. The support of all the stakeholders in the progress of the college cannot be forgotten.
