About College

The Government of Karnataka has established this college on June 15, 1993 to impart higher education to the rural students of Alnavar and its surrounding villages. Alnavar a well developed small town which can be called model village is in Dharwad District of Karnataka state. In the beginning, the college had started its functioning in the building of the Town Municipality. The College is affiliated to the Karnatak University Dharwad. Arts and Commerce courses are introduced at the time of its inception in 1993, and soon it was shifted to private building situated in the heart of the town. At present the college is functioning in newly constructed building situated in the outskirts of the town. The University has granted permanent affiliation to the college in Aug. 2003. Now the college is recognized under 12(B) of the UGC Act of 1956 on 25th March 2009. The science course has got affiliation from the university in June 2008, but the course is not yet be introduced. The students are mainly from agricultural background and represent different sections of the society. The students can speak fluently Kannada, Hindi, Marathi and English. Few students can speak Konkani and Urdu also. Thus the people of this tiny town are truly nourishing different languages and the rich culture of the nation. Though the town is small, yet the people of different religion, language and culture are contributing wholeheartedly for the all-round development of the town.
