Sri Sai College of Dental Surgery is a unique institution being one of the best Dental Colleges in India and the Asian continent. SSCDS is a benchmark for dental education and research in the country. The College is established under the aegis of Balaji Educational Society as a center of excellence for Dental Education in Hyderabad, India. Being the best dental college in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, SSCDS aims at imparting a high standard Dental education coupled with the development of good moral character. The college has been recognised by the Dental Council of India and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and is affiliated to NTR University of health Sciences, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. The college has a collaborative agreement for clinical research with Boston University Goldman School of Dentistry. Boston University Dental School is the ultimate in dentistry and research, and Sri Sai College of Dental Surgery is priviledged to have collaborative research and student exchange programmes with such an eminent centre. The Sri Sai College of Dental Surgery & Hospital, Vikarabad was started in 2001 under the aegis of Balaji Educational Society as a center of excellence for Dental Education, for the people of India. The college is affiliated to NTR University of Health Sciences and is recognised by the Dental Council of India. Vikarabad was chosen as the location for the institution as it would benefit a vast rural population that did not have access to dental treatment. The college had a modest beginning with 60 students and housed in a small place at the foot hills of the Vikarabad. Within few years, the undergraduate intake was upgraded to 100 and the college was recognized by the Dental Council of India in 2005. By then, the institution was upgraded with full fledge Dental & Medical departments with over 300 dental chairs and units. The institution extends the service to the rural and poor population by having satellite clinics at Tandoor, Andhra Pradesh, with its fully equipped preventive and Community Dentistry Department. Clear cut and phased development have seen major advances being made every year. In the year 2006 the post graduate training in various dental specialities was started with the approval of DCI. The progress just did not stop here. This institution was selected as the one of centers in the country approved by Boston University for Research in the year 2006. Even though there are more than 250 dental colleges in the country, this shows the recognition accorded to the facilities existing in the institution. Further the college has also proposed to hold M-Ortho exams in near future. Expansion is not only in terms of areas and facilitiies but also a constant improvement in the quality of educational services. The process of striving to grow better every day continues, by opening a super speciality Craniofacial Surgery and Research Centre with 50 beds in the year 2006. Even though the college came into existence a decade back, but the vision that saw the founding of the college could not be denied and grew to the present stage, as one of the largest dental college in Asia. In 2008, Sri Sai hospital and Research centre, a 100 bedded general hospital with all basic specialities of Medicine and Surgery came into existence in the same campus. This state-of-the-art hospital provides clinical accumen for all the undergraduate and post graduate students in the campus itself, and free medical care to all the poor and needy.
