About College
a. K Gopalan College was established on January 11, 1980. This institution has been set up as a memorial of the great freedom fighter of India. A. K. Gopalan was a member of the Lok Sabha from Kerala province till 1952 to March 22, 1977. He was the president of the All India Kisan Sabha and the Parliamentary Dal of CPIM and the leader of the opposition in the Parliament. While struggling against Tanasahi in the Emergency, his hand broke in the police lathi charge. A few days later, his body died during the treatment in the hospital.Due to his simplicity, patriotism and his great role in the ongoing national movement against imperialism, he was called Gandhi of South India. Of Gopalan's wife's Sushila Gopalan Former MP The foundation stone of the college tile building with Suneet Chopra was done. This college has been established in memory of their help in the ongoing movement to protect democracy. Here college founder Prof. Arjuna Prasad was also held in jail in 1974 due to protesting the dictatorship of the then Prime Minister, Mr Mati Indira Gandhi.
