Lakhipur college was established on the 10th of August, 1981 at lakhipur in the District of Goalpara, Assam. The deserted site where the college stands today, spreads over an area of more than 20 acres of land amid charming greenish surroundings. The college stsrted its functioning at Gopinath Bordoloi hall, Lakhipur Town. The birth of the college was the result of the untiring effort of some eminent social workers, intellectual and educationalists. The college was shifted to its present campus on 05-12-1984 at ward No 2 of Lakhipur Town under 38, Goalpara west LAC. Lakhipur College, affiliated to Gauhati University offers two years Higher Secondary courses in Arts Nd 3 years semester system degree courses in Arts. Since inception, the college has been working hard for spreading higher education among the masses of the socio-eco-edu-culturally backwards areas. In its thirty two years of existence, the college reached the present status. The college obtained UGC affiliation under 2(f) and 12(B) on 14-12-2004. The college was inspected by the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation council) and accredited grade B in the year 2005.
