Kalagi is a Hobli place in chittapur taluka of Gulbarga district of North Karnatka. The village has total of 9336 as per National Population Register 2011 and surrounded by 32 villages.Kalagi has a historical background having monuments and temples such Sri Neelkant Kaleshwar temple, Surya Narayana temple , Mallikarjun temple, Revanasiddeshwar temple , Sri Venkatehswar temple and having so many lingas. The place is popularly known as “Dakshina Kashi”.Kalagi is 45 Kms away from both Chittapur taluka and Gulbarga District. The place is surrounded by many villages and Thandas.The population is economically backward and mainly dependent on agriculture. Majority of the population consists of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and minorities and most of them are illiterate. The place is also having Schedule caste population which has not yet reached the light of learning.It is due to the constant effort of Sri Vishwanath Patil Hebbal, Former MLA, Chittapur Constituency. With the kind cooperation of the local Philanthropist Smt Nagaratanamma Shivasharanappa Kamalapur , R/o of Kalagi, who donated 4 acres of agriculture land for the college. The college was established in July 2007 by Government of Karnataka through Department of Collegiate Education. College offered BA, BSc, BBM and BCom Courses for the upliftment of higher education in the region.
